Community Mediation, Inc. (CM), established in 1980, is a community-based conflict resolution program that uses both staff and trained volunteers to empower individuals, families, organizations and communities to resolve their own disputes.
As our mission states, CM is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting peaceful communities and just relationships by enabling individuals, families, organizations and communities to resolve their conflicts themselves through mediation, dialogue, training, facilitation and education. Locally, we collaborate with a broad range of organizations and provide staff, trained volunteer mediators and facilitators, and other resources to resolve disputes.
What is Mediation?
Mediation is the use of trained neutral third parties to help people resolve their conflicts themselves. Mediators help the parties express themselves, listen to each other, and work together to develop a solution that meets everyone’s needs. Mediators do not give advice, make suggestions, or decide who is right or wrong. Mediation is confidential and completely voluntary.
